Jake's BBQ Sauce Review

About Jake and his sauces

Jake's Barbeque Sauce and Seasonings is a California based company born in 2001 from three generations of barbecue experts specializing in the production of pure and natural barbecue sauce, dry rubs and marinades.  Over the years they've been fortunate to grow their business to well over 600 locations in which Jake's products sit.  They serve markets both nationally and internationally selling products in the USA, Canada, Norway and parts of Europe.

Good barbecue is about taste, great barbecue is about taste, superior quality, great recipes, tips and ease of use.  And most importantly can you reproduce the results over and over?  And for that reason Jake's has chosen to manufacture all of its products based on a firm foundation of health and quality.  That foundation is what drives the sale of Jake's  products over and over again.

My Opinion

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to review (3) of Jake's products. The Medium Hot BBQ sauce, the Inferno BBQ sauce, and his Seasoned Salt. I was quite impressed. When I opened the jar of Medium Hot BBQ I was instantly greeted by the sweet smell of the honey, brown sugar, molasses and BBQ sauce. This sauce is comprised of various ingredients, but what makes it so tasty and gives it that "kick" is the jalapeno, habanero, and ginger.

Medium Hot Sauce Steak

This wonderful assortment sauce, herbs, and spices smells absolutely delightful when cooking. I am a firm believer that the longer you let something marinade the more robust flavor your meat will have when cooked so I was sure to marinade my steak over night. The meat was so juicy and tender, it had a very nice coating of sauce on it. The sauce is thick and stays relatively in place while cooking. Unfortunately,  I had to finish cooking my steaks in the oven because my grill decided to stop working.

When I sliced into the steak it just fell apart. I couldn't believe how tender it was. I am actually quite surprised it hadn't fallen apart while cooking. I finally sat down to dinner and got the opportunity to savor the flavor of my creation (with the help of Jake of course!). At first it was a nice mellow taste to it and then WAM, the "kick" gets ya!  It's not over spicy, it has just the right amount of "kick" to it that it is enjoyable. It's not so incredibly spicy that even those who don't have a thing for hot wouldn't enjoy it.

Seasoned  Salted  Steak

On the second steak rather then saucing it up I decided to try out the seasoned salt as a rub. Again, I let it absorb the flavor into it overnight. Jake's Seasoned Salt is a delightful blend of brown sugar, salt, turmeric, spices, chili pepper, paprika, onion, red peppers, garlic, and natural smoke flavoring. It meant as a direct replacement and compliment to table salt or enhance the flavors of your meal.

Like I said I decided to use it as a rub instead.  Again, the steak turned out juicy and tender. When cooking with Jake's the whole house is filled with the aroma of his seasonings and sauces. My brother yelled down from upstairs after only 10 minutes of cooking and informed me of how wonderful dinner was smelling! I had to agree. This steak was mildly flavored for my boys. They ate it up like beef was going out of style.

I believe that the seasoned salt would taste very nice on salads, celery sticks, popcorn, or anything else that you would typically use seasoned salt to enhance the flavor of something.

I'll be trying the Inferno BBQ sauce later this week and I'll let you know how tasty it is and if it has a big enough "kick" to be called Inferno.

Another great thing that I love about Jake's is that if your not quite sure about how to BBQ something up or need some advice he can help with that. The website offers a whole sections on BBQ FAQ and Solutions including how long to cook meats, how to use dry rubs, tips on BBQ, and so much more!

The other great thing that I love about Jake's is that he believes you have to "Give to live" and donates 5% of quarterly profits to a deserving charity. This quarter it is The Children's Leukemia Research Association . Seriously who doesn't love a company that gives back?
