Flavrz; Organic All Natural Liquid Drink Mixes Review

About Flavrz

"They say necessity is the mother of invention. And we agree, especially with the mother part. Flavrz was created by a mom, Karen Barth, who was looking for healthy drink and healthy soda options for her children. Everywhere she turned, she found high-fructose corn syrup, refined sugars, artificial flavors and preservatives, and tons of wasteful packaging material. Until something clicked…

Tap water. Real organic fruit. Botanical extracts. Agave nectar. Karen began experimenting at home, not knowing that her creations would evolve into Flavrz. It's been a delicious, healthy drink journey for Karen and everyone else at Flavrz.

Our pure taste, less waste mission is catching on. We're creating a community of people devoted to healthy organic living and eco-friendly principles. We know the best is yet to come and are thrilled to have you in the Flavrz revolution."

My Opinion

Flavrs was kind enough to send me a variety of their products to try out. I was surprised by the variety they had sent for us to try!

Flavrz Drink Mix carries organic fruit and soda mixes. Their mixes are organic, low sugar, low calorie, no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners and no genetically modified ingredients. For the Flavrz Fruit Drink Mixes they use real organic fruit, botanical or fruit extracts and real sweeteners such as agave nectar and cane sugar. The Flavrz Soda Drink Mixes use the same great ingredients but they use a combination of agave nectar, cane sugar and stevia to find the right balance of sweetness. The Flavrz line also carries the energy, sports, and immunity drink mixes.

Flavrz has made healthy drinks even more convenient with their on-the-go pouches that you can easily pour into a bottle of water. The have the six different fruit drink mixes to choose from. The Flavrz Fruit Drink Mixes are made up of Tropical, Cherry Berry and Lemon Lime.

Flavrz carries the energy, immunity and sports drink line made up of Fruit Punch, Citrus Hibiscus, and Super Fruit. The Fruit Punch is for re-energizing and re-focusing. The Citrus Hibiscus is to boost your immunity. The Super Fruit is for sports to replenish and refuel. Flavrz also carries Organic Soda Drink Mixes in three delightful and common flavrz! Cola, Root Beer and Ginger Ale. The Soda Flavrz come in 16 oz. bottles for the home. Soda Flavrz can be mixed in sparkling water to make your own organic soda.

They sent 2 Citrus Hibiscus (immunity) "to go" 6 pk boxes, 1 Superfruit Sport drink "to go" pouches,  1 Fruit Punch (energy) to go box (brought this to work because of the raspberry),  Tropical Flavrz to goLemom Lime Flavrz to go,  Cherry Berry 16 oz. bottle (also had to pass along to a friend due to raspberry), and Root Beer Liquid Soda Mix for home.

We tried all the Flavrz Fruit pouches that were sent to us in the different amounts of water as directed to do so on the outside of the boxes. Honestly, all three choices of water amounts mixed with the pouches just "tweaks" the flavorings a little bit. It varies on your personal preferences as to which amount will work best for you and your tastebuds.  Flavrz is a much better choice than some of the other drink pouches that are available( *cough..caprisun cough*. I love the fact that this is something I can toss into my purse or diaper bag or into my children's backpack or lunchboxes for soccer, a day at the park, or school.

The first one that we tried was the Fruit Punch (Energy) to go. It consists of Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Fruit Flavors, Purple Carrot Juice, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Yerba Mate Extract, Citric Acid.  To me it tasted like Hawaiian Punch. It was pretty tasty considering that Hawaiian Punch is an old school childhood favorite and provided the perfect trio of flavor, energy, and hydration and is only 70 calories per pouch! These handy to go 6 packs retail fro $4.99.

The second one we tried was the Superfruit (Sports). It consists of Organic White Grape Juice, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Cane Sugar, Water, Organic Fruit Flavors, Citric Acid, Fruit and Vegetable Extracts for Color, Potassium Chloride (Electrolytes), Magnesium Chloride (Electrolytes), Organic Goji Extract, Sea Salt, Organic Pomegranate Juice.  It reminded me a whole bunch of the dark purple Lifesaver's Gummies. It's a great balance of fruit juices and electrolytes to refuel you body during workouts or everyday go-go-going. This one rings in at only 70 calories per pouch as well. Retails for $4.99 as well.

Next on the roster was Citrus Hibiscus (Immunity). It consists of Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Cane Sugar, Water, Organic Lmeon Extract, Organic Ginger Extract, Citric Acid, Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Goji Extract, Organic Acerola Extract, Organic Dandelion Extract. This one has a very orange like citrus-y flavor to it, but not overpowering. It offers a great balance between the Organic hibiscus, goji, acerola, dandelion, and ginger combined with organic fruit juices to satisfy your need for some  immunity defense with great taste! This also has 70 calories per pouch and retails for $4.99.

Finally, my all dreaded flavr came next. I am not a lemon lime kind of person, but I tried it because well, you never know if that next combination will be the one that you actually like. The Lemon Lime Fruit Drink to go consists of Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Cane Sugar, Water, Organic Lemon Extract, Organic Lime Extract, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). I wasn't a fan sadly, but not because they didn't have the right combinations of lemon and lime or balance the flavors and healthiness accordingly, but simply because I'm not a fan. The boys on the other hand couldn't get enough of it. This one rings in at  70 calories per pouch and also retails for $4.99 per 6 pack. This one is also available in 16 oz. "at home" bottle for $6.99.

Lastly, we tried the Root Beer Liquid Soda Mix (seeing as soda is a once in awhile item). The "syrup" consists of Water, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Caramel Color, Organic Flavors, Organic Ginger Juice, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, Citric Acid, Organic Stevia. Sadly, I was disappointed.  While this does make a decent Root Beer (and the kids don't notice the difference as I do), it doesn't quite have the same "bite" that other natural root beers have. I would have loved a more Sassafras root-y deeper flavor then what I could conjure up trying different carbonated water to syrup ratios. More syrup was overkill making it too sweet for my taste buds, but the kiddos didn't object so it's a great alternative to regular soda for them. However, it definitely beats out the majority of "big brands" in my book -  flavor wise, it doesn't hold up to some of its' natural soda competitors. Recommended Serving size   1.5 tsp., Calories per serving 35.  Retails for $6.99 per 16 oz. bottle (21 servings per bottle)

Where I live I can find and purchase Flavrz at my local Wegman's and Giant Locations,  which is great because I've already restocked several times since my initial tasting of the various products sent to me. You can purchase Flavrs online at their website or search for a local retailer. While the seem pricey they are worth spending a few bucks on for all the wonderful varieties and benefits of healthier products including: the fact that you can Mix it to according to your own taste, Very low in calories (roughly 70 per pouch and 35 for at home varieties) Natural and Organic, Each flavor is enjoyable (for the most part- no lemon lime for me), When mixed with sparkling water you felt like you were having a soda. Since it is low in sugar, I don’t have to worry about giving it to my children as I would with regular juice or soda . Varieties also boost immunity, electrolytes, and energy with certain varieties, and they are great for on the go. The only real CON that I found was that the "to go" packaging is not really portable. Once you open it you can not close it for future use if you choose not to use the entire package in one drink and it MUST be refrigerated. If it had one of those little resealable zipper lock closures it would be complete!
